Two tools

lookup_address

Resolves one address and returns building facts (construction year, number of units), the energy label, a crime-signal summary for the postcode and links to the Koopscan buurt page.

"What should I know about Kratonkade 400 in Rotterdam before I make an offer?"

crime_sources

Lists the news articles behind the crime signals for a postcode: date, category, headline, source and link.

"Which news articles are behind the crime signals for 3024?"

Coverage and limits

Building facts and energy labels cover the whole of the Netherlands. Crime signals cover 44 Dutch cities.

Outside the monitored cities the answer says crime.coverage = "not_covered". That means not monitored. It never means safe.

30 requests per minute and 500 per day per IP address. No authentication. Need more? Email contact@koopscan.com.

Data and privacy

One anonymous row is stored per tool call. It contains:

  • the month of the lookup (no day or time)
  • country, municipality, district, neighbourhood, city and the four digits of the postcode
  • which tool, the outcome, the language, the client app name and the server version
  • whether building data, an energy label and a buurt page were found (yes or no, never the label class)
  • whether the city is monitored, the postcode level that matched and the number of signals
  • whether a key header was sent (yes or no, never its value)

Never stored or logged: the address, the full postcode, the house number, coordinates or your IP address. Analytics use a hash of the IP address with a salt that changes every day and is never saved. Rate limiting keeps IP addresses in memory only. The address itself is only sent to PDOK, the Kadaster (BAG) and RVO (EP-Online) to look it up, and kept in memory for up to a day to cache the answer.
